![]() The brawl option is far easier to deal with than an Ouriana-supported Heracles. PHR: PHR battleships come in two varieties, sniping and close-in brawling.Focus fire the big ones, and send launch or torpedo assets against the cloaked ships. Scourge: Scourge BBs will be coming in headlong, while their BCs will attempt to snipe from cloak.Use silent running and debris fields to line up your shots and avoid enemy battlegroups. UCM: Often a target for enemy spike/snipe groups. Its main advantage lies in its toughness, bringing lots of hull points and PD to a fight. For its points it is a solid workhorse, even if it needs some planning to use effectively. Paired with a Venice, it can overcome that limitation but it is an expensive tactic. The railgun batteries are linked, so it can fire on the move, but to bring the Cobra laser to bear alongside them it needs to go weapons free, which is risky as it cannot turn and its signature becomes large. Role: A ship of the line, the Beijing carries lots of guns. The ability to boost ships via the Venice and the range via Limas (and inexpensive Jakartas), while defending against CAW and bomber attacks with Aegis can make the fleet much harder then the ship stats suggest. The second advantge is the easy access to support ships for Aegis, Detector and the rules enhancing Venice. Limas are an inexpensive scan option to support any attack. A UCM player can easily bunker under multiple Aegis ships and weather incoming launch and CAW attacks, while dishing out large volleys of railgun shots supported by long range burnthough laser fire. They have easy access to ships with broad fire arcs, Aegis support, torpedoes, and launch assets. The name of the game with the UCM is flexibility. 5.2 Taipei - Missile Close Action Frigate.3.1 Atlantis/Johannesburg - Big Gun Battlecruiser. When combined with a good point defense and/or Aegis, UCM fighters can clamp down on enemy close action weapons and bombers on defense, while their bombers can swarm lone ships and take them down. While on paper they seem unimpressive, especially when compared to other fleets, they can still get the job done. This allows you to easily take down your targets at long range where they can not strike back without exposing them to the rest of your fleet.ĭo not discount UCM launch assets. You also have access to some very good burnthrough laser options that you can combine with active scanning ships like the Lima. Inexpensive options like a group of Osakas can bring just as much firepower as a single larger vessel for the similar cost. Their weapons batteries have very forgiving firing arcs, and with the Linked and Squadron rules they can team up and take down ships in their middle range. While this means that they do not shine in certain areas like other factions, it means that they do not have the same weaknesses either. The UCM sits in the middle of ship characteristics between all the factions. Popular styles: Massed Batteries, Long range snipers ![]()
